Week 3: Brainstorming, Photo Of The Week & Video Reviews

Brainstorming
Really enjoyed the brainstorming class because I got to interact more with my group mates and we thought of so many crazy ideas for "50 Ways to Use a Scissors". Even though Emily was not so open about it but she was comfortable enough to go with all the weird ideas.

Brainstorming is about being spontaneous and seeing-thinking-wondering. I think it is always better to brainstorm in a group and not alone because you can come up with so many different ideas, everybody has a different perspective on different things. But sometimes it can also be bad because not everyone will agree with you or accept your idea. I think that is why there's creative thinking class, to let us learn about letting go of ourselves and accepting different kinds of ideas/people. Once we can accept all ideas, we can build on it and come up with something better!

Photo of the Week
I went to the National Museum the other day to accompany my friend to take her pictures for her creative thinking class! Going into the exhibitions, made me think about the past, life was so easy back then, everybody was so carefree. No mobile phones, no laptop but just old school games. Nowadays, people can't live without electronic devices/gadgets. We don't communicate as much as before. People like our parents or relative, they don't have the luxury like us in the past. For example, if they want to buy clothes, they have to either sew it themselves or work hard for the money and buy something nice. And now, we can just easily buy things online whenever we want. I really appreciate everything that I have now (e.g. AIRCON AND ONLINE SHOPPING OMG), now I'm going to go kiss my mom for being a such a strong and independent woman for raising two brats(aka me and my sister) by herself ever since my father passed away.

Video Reviews
Selective Attention Test: The part where they asked if we saw the suicidal man, that kinda scared me because of the sound effect, it's the 7th month now... I think nowadays, people tend to give all their attention to unnecessary things that are happening around them and they don't realize that there are people who are actually dealing with suicidal thoughts. Everyone should stop feeding on all the drama/stupid things and pay more attention to the little things. Check in with your friends once in awhile to make sure that they're okay, because it'll really mean a lot to them and who knows, you might even save a life.

Steve Johnson - Where good ideas come from: Steven Johnson talked about the brilliance of ideas. To him, an idea is a single thing and a network. He also talked about incubator that people think out of the box and came out with a great idea by using car parts to fix the $40,000 incubator. We take ideas from people, from people we learn from, from people that we bump into in the coffee shop and stitch them together into new forms and create something new, that is really when innovation happens. A lot of important good ideas also have very long incubation periods, they linger on for decades sometimes in the back of their mind.

Vision - Motivational Video: The video talks about us using our imagination, vision and embrace faith. We need to move on from our mistakes from the past and learn from it. Everybody has the obstacle to overcome, and in order to get to success, you have to get through all the hard times to get there. We cannot give up, but we have to fail forward in order to get better and get one step closer to success. This video really motivated me, the narrator's voice is very strong and the content that they put in the video has a lot of meaning behind it too. At one part of the video really caught my attention, which is what Lindsey Stirling said: "Anytime there's a change to be made, you have to realise that there is somewhere else you want to be and I want to basically be happy."

5 Unexpected Ways To Spark Your Creative Genius: I read on this article about 5 unexpected ways to spark and it's really interesting how our brain can have so many different ways to think creatively. Stay away from the television and let your brain work with books to freshen up your perspective. Also, you can use your pen and paper too, to write down your thoughts wherever you are and whenever you want.
