Week 6: Lateral Thinking, Edward De Bono, Photo Of The Week

Lateral Thinking
This week is all about lateral thinking. Lateral thinking is sideway thinking and solving a problem through an indirect and creative approach. You have to solve a problem by thinking way out of the box. Lateral thinking is not using the traditional way to solving a problem but you disregard the implies rules to solve a problem. I actually find this class very interesting, I love the puzzles but didn't really used lateral thinking to solve it so hopefully the next few puzzles that I found, I'll be able to solve it through lateral thinking.

5 Lateral Thinking Puzzles

1st puzzle:

My answer:
Flatten the top part of the truck.

2nd puzzle:
My answer:
Move the second glass on the left and the second last glass on the right.

Correct answer:
Pour the drink from the second glass on the left into the second glass on the right.

3rd puzzle:
My answer:
Just remove the + in the middle. Count it as 2 matchsticks instead of 4.

4th puzzle:
What can you hold in your right hand, but not in your left?

My answer:
A pen, because I'm a right hander.

The correct answer:
Your left hand, forearm or elbow.

5th puzzle:
Jane gave Jill the following challenge: "If you sit down in that chair, I bet you five pounds I can make you get out of it before I run around the chair three times"
Jill: "That's not fair, you'll just prick me with a pin or do something similar."
"Nope",  Jane said. "I won't touch you, either directly or with an object. If you get out of the chair, it'll be by your own choice."
Jill thought, accepted the challenge, and lo and behold, Jane won the bet. How did she do it?

My answer:
Because Jane didn't start running at all and said that she'll come back tomorrow.

The correct answer:
Jill sat down in the chair. Jane ran around it twice, then said, "I'll be back in a week to run the third time around!"

Photo Of The Week
Took this photo while I was looking for a place to take my outfit of the day picture. I am always looking for new places to explore and take picture at because I don't want the pictures that I'm posting to be boring. If you look at the building carefully, there's a sculpture thing on the right towards the end of the building and I find it really interesting. Am I the only one who feels happy when I see these type of buildings? This picture don't even feel like it's taken in Singapore.
